Morningstar
Corp will be releasing in November 2009, the TriStar MPPT solar
controllers.
These are in addition to the currently available SunSaver MPPT charge controller. |

The TriStar MPPt solar
controller is an advanced maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge
regulator for off-grid solar systems. The controller features a
smart tracking algorithm that maximizes the energy harvest from the
solar panels by finding and maintaining operations as the solar array
peak power point. The TriStar MPPT is well suited for large professional and consumer applications with solar systems up to 3000 watts. Its charging process has been optimized for long battery life and improved system performance. This product is fully adjustable and available in 45 or 60 amps. The TriStar MPPT provides 90 days of data logging and several communications ports. Product options include the TriStar meter and remote meter as well as a remote termperature sensor. Please contact us if you would like to
have a look at the Preliminary Datasheet. Pricing is not
yet available. ------------------------------------------------ The SunSaver MPPT charge controller is designed for 12V and 24V battery charging from PV modules with a maximum open circuit voltage of 75V. Use up to three "12V" 36-cell modules in series. It can be used with 200 watts of PV when charging a 12-volt battery and up to 400 watts when charging a 24-volt battery.

New Battery Monitor from Bogart Engineering
![]() We
have teamed with Bogart Engineering to provide a better Battery
Monitor. A smaller design with the same great features as the original
Trimetric TM2020, the TM2021-RV now comes with a second battery
bank voltage monitor, 12, 24 and 48 VDC operation, built-in lightning
protection and a 500 Amp shunt. Dimensions: 7.5cmW x 13.3cmH
The TM 2021-RV is intended to
help maintain battery systems for nominal 12V to 48V systems, such as ones found in RV’s or
off grid homes - which are regularly charged and discharged and use “deep cycle”
batteries.
The “amps” or “watts” display measures the energy going in or out of your batteries so you can check your charging systems, and also to see how much energy each of your appliances use to help you conserve energy. The “% Full” display will help you keep track of how charged or discharged your batteries are. The “volts” display will let you discover if your charger systems are charging to the proper voltage, neither too high or too low, which is important for maximizing your battery life—also when battery voltage gets too low you will know your battery is getting really close to being discharged. The “days since charged” display shows how recently the main battery (system) was fully charged, so if it hasn’t been charged recently you can perform extra charging if necessary to help maintain the capacity of your batteries. The TM-2021-RV also can measure “voltage only” of a second battery set, such as the motor starting battery, or solar voltage input to an MPPT charge controller. Data logging: Not everyone will use the data logging information, which records daily maximum battery voltage level, and minimum charging amps to check for proper charging levels for the last 5 days. In addition, for up to five of the most recent charge/discharge cycles it also logs: cycle length, charge efficiency, minimum battery% full and minimum voltage level for each cycle. This is useful diagnostic information which a technician can use to determine that the whole system is working properly. Serial data output: For extreme techies only: The TM-2021-RV also has a serial 0-5V output with streaming “real time” serial (ASCII) data that could be used to control other electronics. | Price Increases |
||||||||||||
| Due to the falling value of
the NZ$ against the US$, we are facing price increases on many of our
products. First to get hit are the AGM batteries, which
have also suffered increased costs due to raw material price
increases. Some of our PowerMaster inverter/chargers have also
increased in price. BlueSea System electrical components have also
increased this month due to increase raw materials costs and the
weakening of the NZ$. We endeavour to keep our webpage pricing up to date, but it may not always be possible to do so, so please check with us by email or phone if you are not sure. |
